After 75 years, USA soccer has ended its drought in Mexico.

Over the past 24 games played against the Mexican National team on their home field at Estadio Azteca, the best USA could do was a 0-0 tie back in 1997. The other 23 matches all resulted in defeat to our neighbors to the South. But on Wednesday, that all changed.

In the 80th minute, Michael Orozco Fiscal netted the only goal of the “friendly” on a great play by USA soccer. Orozco was born in California, but both of his parents were born south of the border in Mexico.

This loss by Mexico ends a 10-game streak at Estadio Azteca, only their 9th loss in 120 games played in that venue.
