Take a look at upcoming fights in the MMA world. The next three months will feature some of the most exciting bouts of the year, including three major title bouts. This all kicks off April 30 with UFC 129: St-Pierre vs. Shields. UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will look to defend his title against world class grappler Jake Shields. The featherweight title is also on the line as champion Jose Aldo takes on Mark Hominck. The card will also feature what may be UFC legend Randy Couture’s last match, against former champion Lyoto Machida.
On May 28, the Lightweight title is on the line as champ Frankie Edgar and challenger Gray Maynard square off for a third time. Their second fight was a back and forth epic that ended in a rare draw. Edgar got to keep the title but Maynard made a strong case for the win. This time both fighters want no question marks surrounding who the winner is. The card also features Rampage Jackson against Matt Hamill and Frank Mir vs Roy Nelson.
On June 4th The Ultimate Fighter 13 finale is going down. Headlining the event: dynamic rising star, Anthony Pettis looks to prove himself in the UFC against the gritty veteran Clay Guida. Pettis was the last WEC lightweight champon before the promotion merged with the UFC, and this marks his official UFC debut. Both fighters are known for their exciting styles, so fans shouldn’t expect anything less then spectacular in this one.
Also in June, Strikeforce returns with “Overeem vs. Werdum”. The Strikeforce heavyweight Grand Prix continues with Allistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum and Josh Barnett vs. Brett Rogers. The event is also notable, because it’s sheduled to feature the long awaited return of Gina Carano.
June also marks an appearance from Brock Lesnar. UFC 131; Lesnar will face off against Brazilian bomber Junior Dos Santos for a chance at the heavyweight title. Lesnar looks to become number one contender after losing his title to Cain Velasquez. He won’t have an easy task against the brazilian.
