In case you haven’t heard the news, Donovan McNabb is not starting on Sunday at Quarterback for the Washington Redskins against the Dallas Cowboys.  Who is?  Rex Grossman.

That’s right, this smiley guy who hasn’t been a legitimate starter for a while.

I don’t know if Mike Shanahan has heard, but “Dallas Week” comes twice a year in Washington, and it’s a pretty big deal for long time Redskins fans, just like it’ll be a big deal for our kids.  Somehow, Shanahan either doesn’t know about that, or he lost his mind.

I understand the argument for trying to figure out what kind of talent you got on your team, now that it’s mathematically impossible to make the post season, but don’t do it in Dallas Week.

This is the only thing at this point which means something to Redskins fans, and now you’re going to take it away?  That’s not cool.

I don’t know whether Mike Shanahan dislikes Donovan McNabb or not, but you have to do whatever it takes to give the Redskins their best chance to beat the Cowboys.

I wouldn’t be surprised if John Beck comes in during the second half of this game to see what he’s capable of doing.

All I have to say on the rest of this issue is that I hope the QB position on Sunday doesn’t end up having to do much because the defense and Ryan Torain are kickin’ the Cowboys from one end of the field to the other.  In fact, all I really want to see that QB do is to hook Chris Cooley up with a pass when he’s close enough to have a legit shot at getting a touchdown, ’cause it’s ridiculous that he’s gone this far into the season, catching as many passes as he has, and they won’t target him once they get into scoring range.  I don’t want to see Logan Paulsen or “Sleepy” Fred Davis or Roydell Williams or Joey Galloway or Mike Sellars get their shot at it.  Throw the ball to # 47 and be done with it.  Coooooooooley owns the Cowboys over the past few games he’s played against them, so give him a chance to keep up that trend.

I’d give anything to be a fly on the wall when Brian Orakpo heard that they weren’t starting McNabb this Sunday.  That guy has his blood already turned to Burgundy and Gold, and he’s one of this team’s captains, even now in his second year in the league.  You know he wasn’t happy with the timing of things.

This may just be the Bud View, but I know a lot of y’all here in the Nations Capital are right there with me on this.
