Scarlett Quinn is a photographer, Cosplayer, model, makeup artists, and aspiring tattoo apprentice. I know a lot on her plate, right!?! Rather she is dressing as the female Loki causing mischief or strumming a guitar as the enchanting Marceline, Quinn always captures your attention with her designs and lovely smile. I was able to get the enchantress to take time out her day to answer a few questions.

Mr. Incredible: So what first got you into Cosplaying?

Scarlett Quinn: I have done a lot of work at conventions promoting live action roleplaying groups and saw a lot of people dressed in Cosplays, and I thought I should try that too!

Mr. Incredible: Do you remember your first Cosplay?

Scarlett Quinn: My first real Cosplay was my twi’lek Harley Quinn crossover for free comic book day back in 2013

Mr. Incredible: Now I know you do make up, but do you also craft your own outfits?

Scarlett Quinn: Almost all of my Cosplays and LARP costumes I have made myself. Sometimes the best way to go about making a costume is to scavenge at value village or thrift shops.

Mr. Incredible: Being a Makeup person do you ever look at people’s work and run through the mistakes they have made in your head?

Scarlett Quinn: I am a self taught makeup artist so I’m not as critical of others as someone who may have gone to school for it. I also try not to judge other people too harshly because I know how hard it can be to do special effects makeup and make sure it stays for the whole day.

Mr. Incredible: How important is good make up for a Cosplay?

Scarlett Quinn: I feel that makeup is just as important as your hair and costume for a Cosplay. obviously some Cosplays don’t require as much work as others but I am a perfectionist right down to the tiny details so I love making sure the makeup is perfect too.

Mr. Incredible: What are things that you have learned doing make up that you use in your Cosplay?

Scarlett Quinn: I started doing makeup for a LARP community back in 2010 and I have painted more undead faces then I care to count. A lot of that style of makeup has helped me go above and beyond with cosplays.

Mr. Incredible: What have been some of your fav. Cosplays?

Scarlett Quinn: One of my most favorite Cosplays that I’ve done so far is Harley Quinn. I was really lucky to have the use of an old army tank for that one. Another favorite is Future twilight sparkle. That one had some pretty awesome paintball guns for.

Mr. Incredible: Who are the Cosplayers, who work you have enjoyed?

Scarlett Quinn: Jessica Nigri is one of my all time favorite Cosplayers, the fact that she is so well known really is an inspiration to keep doing what I’m doing. Elle cosplay (https://www.facebook.com/Ellexcosplay?ref=br_tf) is a great friend who got me into Cosplaying for Geek Girls! She is a fantastic cosplayer who is unbelievably talented in every way!

Mr. Incredible: Now what came first the modeling or the Cosplaying?

Scarlett Quinn: I started modeling when I was in college for photography. Cosplaying had never even crossed my mind then.

Mr. Incredible: Now if that wasn’t everything, you are also a photographer.

Scarlett Quinn: Yeah I am a photographer, makeup artist, costume designer, and hair stylist. So I’ve pretty well got everything covered for being a cosplayer. A lot of the time the photos that I’ve posted are solo projects. But I like having someone else to take the pictures.

Mr. Incredible: Does it make taking pictures or having pictures taken easier, because you have been behind and in front of the camera?10551910_248586412018941_806438443_n

Scarlett Quinn: I find that if I have a photographer with some experience the shoot goes a lot smoother. But it is a lot easier with all my experience to know what I want as the end product.

Mr. Incredible: I also hear that you are thinking about becoming a tattoo apprentice.

Scarlett Quinn: I have been drawing up tattoos for people for years but lately I have been kind of on the fence about becoming a tattoo apprentice. I have a lot on my plate so far and I’m not sure that adding more to it is the best idea just yet. But hopefully soon I will be able to add that to my list of talents.

Mr. Incredible: How do you feel about Cosplay being seen as the new sexy?

Scarlett Quinn: I am totally on bored for Cosplay being the new sexy. No one should feel bad for loving something geeky and I am glad to be a part of a culture that is so open to different fandoms.

Mr. Incredible: Well thank you for taking time out to do this. Is there anything more you would like to say to the fans and readers?

Scarlett Quinn: I have some really exciting new photo shoots coming! With some really elaborate sets and props! So stay tuned to my page to see what I’ve got up my sleeve next! Thanks for reading
