San Diego Comic-Con 2012 is upon us, and there are several things we’re looking forward to finding out from this weekend. Here’s just a few things we’re hopeful for:

The Walking Dead

The upcoming season of AMC’s great zombie show is going to have some great aspects to it. The Prison. Michonne. The Governor. So far all I’ve seen are two still shots presented in a magazine.

Man Of Steel

It’s already been announced several places that a teaser trailer for Man Of Steel will be released at Comic-Con. Clocking in around 90 seconds, there should be more than just a logo and some voice-over. Even if there’s no glimpses of Henry Cavill flying around with his cape flapping in the breeze, some footage to set the scene for any number of points in the film should be presented. A view of the Daily Planet’s iconic globe. The Fortress of Solitude. Pre-destruction Krypton. Even the tractor trailer falling out of the sky. Some of us are already amped up for the reboot, but this weekend could kick that up a notch.

I want to be excited for Neill Blomkamp’s follow-up to District 9, but the writer-director’s involvement is the only thing about the project that excites me… and I’m a Matt Damon fan. As we get more than just the still of a bald, huge-gun-wielding Damon, I’m sure it’ll be a project I’ll anticipate with more fervor than I am now, but at this point I’m at a CONTAGION level, and that’s not a good thing.

Django Unchained

The trailer looks amazing. Though we got 2.5 minutes of content from Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming western, there’s plenty of opportunity to come out of the convention even more wow’ed for the project.

Pacific Rim

Giant robots fighting giant monsters. Could be great, could be terrible. The more details we get, the better prepared we can be. It’s Guillermo del Toro, so I want to be excited for it.

You probably don’t know the name Rian Johnson, but he’s a talented storyteller, and his upcoming flick with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Paul Dano looks great.  It probably won’t be the highlight of Comic-Con, but it’s something people will likely enjoy.

Iron Man 3

I want a look at Ben Kingsley in his getup as The Mandarin. And so should you.

The Cosplay

Though it’s nearly impossible to bring the proportions of female comic book characters to life, some of the ladies who attend these conventions do a great job at dressing up and looking hot. And some of the costumes that the guys come up with are impressive… while others get an A for effort but are entertaining for reasons involving lack of production quality.
