When Rob came to me about doing music reviews, I jumped at the chance to do it. seeing that I listen to a little bit of everything, I felt that I could bring some different sounds to the review area. I wanted to wait until I had a chance to conduct with a local cover band who I am friends with, but when this idea hit me, I just had to do this.

There is a lot of good music out there and a lot of people always ask me what I carry on my iPod, and the response I typically get is shock. Who blames them, when you see me… you must likely see me as a Hip Hop thug type of music guy. This is where I break the mold.  What I’m going to do is list some of the songs that I carry around with me as I go about my day. Let’s get started shall we…

Band of Skulls

Band of Skulls

1. Light of the Morning – Band of Skulls *Click Here*

This song has that old rock feel to it. Very stripped down without any added flavor to it. You may remember this some from the 2011 Mustang Commercial Song. Or…more recently the commercial for The Hangover 2. This song rocks heavy and if you get a chance to peep their album…be sure to thank me for giving you a new ear treat.

Wolfmother

2. Joker and the Thief – Wolfmother *Click Here*

First heard this song on the first Hangover soundtrack and never really gave it any mind until I was playing Rock Band 3 with my good friend, Greeno. Now that I have actually sat down and listen to it. I love the original throwback flavor that it has. It’s a rock song, not a emo love kill yourself fest or grunge attack. It’s a hard rock song that is driven my all the classic parts need to make a rocking song. Even adding a little old skool organ playing makes this song a must have on any list in your MP3 player.

The White Stripes

3. Hello Operator – The white Stripes *Click Here*

I’m not a real big White Stripes fan. Sure they have had some songs that have hit me here and there. But this song has gotten me wrapped up. It first hit my radar after watching a Converse commercial with Dr. J. I just had to go and find the whole song. Whenever I hear this song I feel like I be strutting down the sidewalk ala Travolta in Sat. Night Fever. Rock On…

Cage The Elephant

4. Ain’t no Rest For The Wicked – Cage The Elephant *Click Here*

Borderlands is a very kick ass game. but that wasn’t what brought me to the game. The commercial for the game featured this song. It give the game this wild west feel to it. It has a hint of country but still remains true to it’s rock roots. Even after I stopped playing the game, I continued playing the song.

5. Far Away – Jose Gonzalez *Click Here*

Picture this scene. You have just finished a tough mission. You are taking the long ride back home. When this is happening this is the song that you are listening to. This song gave Red Dead Redemption a nice rustic feel. this song became so popular by the fans of the game, that they actually shoot a video for it. This is one of those songs that if you got a lot on your mind, you put it on repeat and just drive.

I’ll be back with more songs that should send the good vibes through your audio beast. Until keep your head in the clouds and your hands on some nice ass…

See Ya Later, Space Cowboy…
