If you were a wide receiver in the NFL and you’d already been run out of one town and you failed to produce as well as expected during your first season with a new team, and then you started producing some good numbers as your career in the new town, would you go out and party and get twice as drunk as New York City law allows?
I can understand Braylon Edwards wanting to party and celebrate his rejuvenation for the New York Jets, but drinking and driving in Manhattan? Unacceptable.
First of all, how many cabs are there in Manhattan?
Secondly, your team has a Player Protect program whereby THE OWNER OF THE TEAM will PAY for your ride home if it keeps you from drinking and driving.
Does the idea of hurting yourself or someone else not cross your mind?
And what about the two other players you were driving around in your car at the time? What if you had hurt those guys?
Another case of an athlete acting stupid.
What I don’t get about NFL players getting a DUI, come on you make enough money, pay for someone to drive you home. What do you tell me you don’t have some good friends that will hold off drinking that night for few tickets to the game. I am pretty sure if my friend was playing in the NFL, I would hold off drinking for a night to get some tickets, or just hey friends should help friends anyways.
