I promised all of you an update on the new TMNT movie coming out next year, and sadly I already have some things to update you on. First and for most… After the backlash of the alien thing Michael Bay was quoted saying that he didn’t care what people thought about the change… That’s a great way to sell tickets… Now there’s news that they changed to the name to just Ninja Turtles.
Bay blames the suits on this one. Don’t know if it’s true or not, but giving the quotes last week of not caring what we think, one has to wonder why he even bothers trying to to explain. Especially since he further goes on to say “Paramount marketing changed the name. They made the title simple. The characters you all remember are exactly the same, and yes they still act like teenagers. Everything you remember, why you liked the characters, is in the movie. This script is being developed by two very smart writers, with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles. They care VERY MUCH about making this film for the fans. Everyone on this team cares about the fans. Just give them a chance. Jonathan the director, is a major fan of the whole franchise. HE’S NOT GOING TO LET YOU DOWN”
Really? Talented writers? Who are these so called talented writers? How come no one’s been confirmed as a writer yet. I knew I shoulda sent out my spec script when I had a chance. Splinter vs the rat king in the third act while the turtles take Beebop, Rocksteady, Leatherhead, and Slash was a much better idea. Now since it’s Aliens… We’ll prolly get Triceratons, and giant robots.
And acting like teenagers? What? Are they mentally handicapped Aliens? What of Michelangelo? Will he still be allowed to ride skateboards, order crazy ingredients on pizza, have funny one liners, and act a fool? Will they have a model who cant act playing April, or a model who can barely act playing April? And how does splinter fit in? I hope these questions are answered quickly.
As for the new title? I’m not sure how I feel about it. I guess it makes sense given the new origins… but still… I will say this though… Kevin Eastman… Peter Laird…. shame on you both! I’m gonna go cry now.
