LikeCool.com, one of my favorite websites, has found something that I really REALLY hope gets some widespread use.

Although it could lead to more accidents – with motorists attempting to drive through the intersection the moment it hits green – forgetting about the fact that motorists coming from opposite directions might run the red light, I really like this concept.  Apparently they use this type of traffic signal in parts of Brazil and the Netherlands.

Essentially the rim around the red light atop the traffic signal has bars which disappear in a constant rate of time, letting you know how much longer you have to wait before the light turns green.
