Barbecue chips have always been a favorite of snack option of mine, and I’ve always considered the Lays brand option to be one of the best. When I saw Lays came up with a variation on the original, I had to try a bag of the Honey Barbecue chips.
The honeycomb on the packaging deserves to be there. The honey flavor in these chips is abundant, but there’s very little after taste. The sweetness the honey brings does the chips a disservice, as it masks a significant portion of the taste from the originals.
If you’re a fan of BBQ chips, you won’t dislike these, but they just seem to fall short somehow. I’d still recommend you go with the original Lays Barbecue and forgo the option with honey baked in. Just look for the black bag.
