Continuing in the college basketball conference preview series, I now look at the SEC. Just like in football the basketball version of the SEC has a chance to be dominant. There are several teams that will be highly ranked and some teams that have the potential to break through but have their own questions to deal with during the season.

1 ) Kentucky
What a shocker, eh? The Wildcats have the most talented roster in the conference and should be contending for the national title.

2 ) Vanderbilt
Could be a real threat to Kentucky, they have 20 PPG scorer John Jenkins and incredible depth at their disposal.

3 ) Florida
Several new additions could have the Gators contending. Erving Walker is a legit scorer, and should have more around him to work with.

4 ) Alabama
A team that could break into the top 3 if one of the later falters, the Tide are led by JaMychal Green, who has double-double potential.

5 ) Arkansas
The Hogs’ run n’ gun style will certainly keep opponents on their toes and coach Mike Anderson knows how to use it to maximum effectiveness.

6 ) Mississippi State
They have the talent to be competitive in the conference and postseason, it’s just a matter of of putting it all together.

7 ) Georgia
The Bulldogs lost a number of productive players, but there is still enough to win some games.

8 ) Ole Miss
The Rebels have their own questions to answer, but new arrival Jalen Kendrick could be a key contributor.

9 ) Auburn
The addition of Varez Ward gives the Tigers a pretty good backcourt, but questions in the frontcourt will need to be addressed,

10 ) LSU
The good news is that Geaux Tigers return 4 starters. The bad news is it might not be enough to get a winning record.

11 ) South Carolina
Bruce Ellington is a solid talent, but there’s not alot around him to help out the Gamecocks.

12 ) Tennessee
The thing that will really be a huge problem to overcome wis the lack of scoring. Otherwise, they’ll be in the cellar this season.
