NASCAR’s Race for the chase is heating up with two races down and eight to go.  Tony Stewart is currently on fire and has won the first two races at Chicago and Loudon (New Hampshire).  He has jumped to first in the standings with a seven point lead over Kevin Harvick.  Brad Keselowski has jumped up to third in the race, while notables Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch have dropped to 10th and 6th respectively.   It is still early in the Chase and no one is out of it yet, but some are in danger of being out of it early if they don’t do well over the next few weeks.  There is only a 66 point spread across the top 12 drivers, with the top 11 only separated by 34 points.  Three drivers are tied for sixth place, 26 points back: Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, and Dale Jr.

My mottos all season long have been “Season of Change” and “Anyone but Jimmie”.  Honestly, that even includes Jeff Gordon, and if you know me, that is saying a lot.  I would love to see Tony take the championship for his new team.  Of course, I would love to see Jr. make a late season charge, break his winless streak and take home the championship.  I am a realist though and the way Jr’s. racing and luck have been going, that is not going to be in the cards.

So the setup for the Monster Mile at Dover has Martin Truex Jr. on the pole, sitting next to Kurt Busch.  Other Chasers are spread out through 34 positions with Jimmie Johnson in sixth, Brad Keselowski in 15th, Tony Stewart in 28th and Jeff Gordon in 34th.  I do not think the starting position is all important at this point, the good drivers are going to find their way to the front, after all, it is a long race.

So the question remains, who is going to win the AAA 400 today.  I think that with their current momentum, Tony Stewart is going to take a third race in a row.  I also think that we are going to see Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch in the top five.  Let me know what you think.
