If you didn’t see it, CM Punk took a microphone to the top of the ramp at the end of RAW and went on a rant for the better part of six minutes, setting the WWE Universe abuzz.

According to WWE.com, the rant has lead to his suspension by Vince McMahon himself.

The rant included talk of how John Cena, Hulk Hogan and “Dwayne” (a reference to The Rock) got to the top in WWE because of kissing Vince McMahon’s ass.

Punk went on to mention that Paul Heyman saw something in him that no one else seems to have respected since then, referencing former WWE champion Brock Lesnar, also a Paul Heyman guy, who left WWE unceremoniously and abandoned the business completely, seeking out mixed martial arts instead.

His comments weren’t limited to Vince McMahon and WWE, but he also referenced the “crappy USA Network”.

That wasn’t enough to get his microphone cut, nor the edition of RAW cut short (it was on over-run anyway). No, he had to take it a step further to get there.

The mentions of potential competitors New Japan Pro Wrestling and then Ring Of Honor came before the mic got cut. So did a shout out to Colt Cabana, who formerly wrestled for WWE as a jobber named Scotty Goldman despite Cabana’s great mic ability and very entertaining wrestling skills.

When there was no mention of TNA Wrestling, I thought this might’ve been WWE’s way of letting Punk go to the line, but not cross it.

The mention of John Laurinitis wasn’t the typical way someone might look to get heel heat. Calling him a Glad-Handed Yes-Man probably didn’t make John happy, but would that be a punishable offense? Probably not.

Then he started to really cross the line for the people backstage. He said he was thinking that WWE might be better once Vince McMahon dies… and then he goes on to say it probably won’t improve, saying future decision makers Stephanie McMahon and Triple H were idiots.

The mic gets cut just as Punk starts to talk trash the B A Star campaign against bullying, and shortly thereafter the screen goes black and RAW ends.

Could this all be a part of the story? Possibly. Would it be surprising that CM Punk might want to part ways with WWE after making a lot of money and want to make himself a legend for the things he ranted on tonight?

WWE.com announced the suspension of CM Punk and said that Vince McMahon himself made the decision.

They didn’t have to do that. They could’ve just kept him off of shows and found an on-screen way to say that CM Punk was no longer the number one contender.

This could be the end of Punk’s tenure with WWE…

…or it could be the start of the next Attitude Era.

Time will tell, but don’t expect to see him on RAW next week.

I would expect to see him on the pay per view, one way or another.
