Yet again a tarnish on the Patriots organization comes by way of the court system.

Brandon Spikes, a linebacker for the New England Patriots at the time, got into a car crash that injured a family of three (including a 12 year-old boy) and then left the scene of the crime. Today a court handed down his sentence.

The very light sentence handed down from the court includes the loss of his license for one year, probation, and a $1000 fine.

Perhaps the bigger impact on Brandon Spikes is that the New England Patriots released him a day after the crash occurred, on June 8th.

This is the second time that the New England Patriots have released a player suspected of breaking the law, and yet again they avoid having the player on their roster when the verdict comes down.
