For those of you who haven’t heard, Aaron Hernandez is in a little trouble. With the Pro Bowl Tight End currently behind bars without bail and his name being attached to other unsolved crimes, he’s not likely to ever return to the NFL. If he does make a return, it’s not likely going to be for the New England Patriots, who released him just hours after he was arrested.

If he does make a return to the New England Patriots, then over 1200 fans are going to have to consider whether or not they want to reacquire his jersey, because that’s reportedly how many people participated yesterday in the jersey swap sponsored by his former team.

For those who were exchanging their #81 Aaron Hernandez jersey, they got to choose between:

  • Tom Brady
  • Vince Wilfork
  • Rob Gronkowski

I’ve also heard that some people got to exchange for a Stevan Ridley jersey, but that might’ve been an unofficial swap. Some people aren’t so keen on getting rid of Hernandez jerseys, as is evident by some eBay auctions which have sprung up recently.

Interestingly enough, there’s no Tim Tebow option.
