Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner starred in several movies in the 1980s as characters romantically interested in one another. Arguably their most notable film together, ROMANCING THE STONE, is set to become a television series for NBC.
According to reports from Deadline, the 1984 action-adventure-romantic-comedy is being produced by 20th Century Fox and will be written by Mark Friedman (THE FORGOTTEN), possibly to be directed (schedule permitting) by co-producer Shawn Levy.
The series is being described as using “an adventure-of-the-weak approach, following a ‘successful but unfulfilled woman’ who teams with an adventurer to take on missions while searching for her missing brother” (SpinOff)
Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile are my 2 favorite movies from the 80s.
Especially the remark by Michael Douglas:
“If we ever get out of this alive……I kill you”
Brilliant!!
