The purpose of GuysNation is to promote things that we, the writers and editors who produce content, that we enjoy and that we think others might enjoy as well. We’re striving to maintain a positive environment, although we might not always succeed. In keeping with that topic, here are some things you should know about our belief structure:

There aren’t boundaries of what constitutes “guy stuff”. Guys can like whatever they want, and it doesn’t make them any less of a “guy”. Do what makes you happy, enjoy what you enjoy, so long as it doesn’t hurt others or discriminate. You don’t HAVE to like certain things to be a “guy”. I don’t particularly like most beer, and a few of my best friends don’t really care about sports. Similarly, liking certain things doesn’t disqualify someone from being a “guy”. I don’t like the notion some people reference about a “Man Card” and how certain actions, comments, affinities or beliefs are cause for “taking” someone’s “Man Card”. There are discussions to be had about the ways mature adults should be expected to conduct themselves, but that’s a different discussion.

The term “guy”, to us, doesn’t specify the male gender. Plenty of women in our lives can be considered “one of the guys”, just as there are plenty of men in our lives who might not. It has nothing to do with gender identity or sexual orientation. It’s more about inclusion: if someone WANTS to be considered “one of the guys”, that’s essentially all it takes.

I’d liken it to “sibling-hood”.

So if you don’t feel included, let us know. We’re always open to feedback and constructive criticism.
