Mark Munoz was supposed to fight Chael Sonnen at UFC On Fox 2. Unfortunetly Munoz had to pull out of the fight due to an injury which has become very common in the past year. After a switch in a few match bookings, Chael Sonnen will now be fight Michael Bisping, who was scheduled to fight Demian Maia.
The fight between Bisping and Sonnen is still a #1 contenders fight and the winner will fighting current champ Anderson Silva in the summer sometime. The Bisping-Sonnen fight still is a good matchup for Sonnen, he will take down Bisping and smother him on the ground.
For the UFC this is a matchup they should have made in the first place. Both fighters love to talk trash and people either love or hate both of them.
Demian Maia is now fighting Chris Weidman. Weidman is 7-0 with 3 of those in the UFC. Both men are wrestlers, while Maia is the submission specialist and Weidman is also good at submitting. This is going to be a very strategic and grueling fight with both fighters looking for the submission.
UFC On Fox 2 airs January 28th with Rashad Evans battling Phil Davis in its headliner.
