Believe it or not, but the top selling jerseys among all NFL players for the month of April turns out to be Tim Tebow’s #15 jersey for the Denver Broncos.
“I think it’s an honor for people to want my jersey and want to have it and want to wear it,” Tebow told the Denver Post Wednesday afternoon. “It is somewhat surreal to have it sell more than some of these people I grew up idolizing.”
There are no real surprises in the rest of the top 5. The new Donovan McNabb jersey was second overall in sales, likely due to his trade to the Washington Redskins. Fresh off his Super Bowl MVP performance for the Saints, Drew Brees ends up in the third overall spot. Perennial favorites Peyton Manning and Brett Favre find themselves up near the top of the list. Having just moved to the New York Jets, LaDainian Tomlinson’s new jersey is also popular. The only other rookies to have jerseys selling in the top 10 are Ndamukong Suh’s jersey for Detroit, hitting #8 in the sales figures list, and the top overall pick Sam Bradford’s St. Louis Rams jersey, which sold into the #9 spot.
One factor which likely could’ve helped Tebow’s jersey make it to the top of the charts is his popularity with the ladies. NFL.com offers a “Women’s Field Flirt Fashion Jersey” which comes complete with crystal rhinestones on the neck rib. No joke.
