Harvick Comes Up Short on Gas

In the final laps of the Subway Fresh Fit 500 in Phoenix, Kevin Harvick made a late push to catch Denny Hamlin.  Just before the white flag flew with one to go, Kevin’s car ran out of gas and Denny cruised to the checker flag.  Kevin was still able to coast to a second place finish.  The top ten finishers were as follows: 1              Denny Hamlin 2              Kevin Harvick 3              Greg Biffle 4              Jimmie Johnson 5              Brad Keselowski 6              Kyle Busch 7              Martin Truex Jr. 8              Jeff Gordon 9              MarkRead More

The Chase is Set for NASCAR Championship

After the crazy race at Richmond (Wonderful Pistachios 400) The Chase has been set.  Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jr. were struggling to stay in the top 12 and Brad Keselowski and David Ragan were fighting to get into The Chase.  The top 12 drivers are: Kyle Busch Kevin Harvick Jeff Gordon Matt Kenseth Carl Edwards Jimmie Johnson Kurt Busch Ryan Newman Tony Stewart Dale Earnhardt Jr. Brad Keselowski Denny Hamlin I currently think that the top three drivers have the best chance of winning the championship, not only becauseRead More

Preparing for Daytona…Round 2

This Saturday’s race brings us back to Daytona for the second time this season, and while this is not the famed “Daytona 500″, it is still an intense race.  I do not think that Trevor Bayne will have the same luck this go around though as I think on of the current top ten drivers is going to take the checkered flag.  I will be rooting for Dale Jr., of course, he is way overdue and after a bad turnout (as usual) at the road course last week, he isRead More

NASCAR Dealing With Rain at Dover

Qualifying was rained out at Dover on Saturday.  NASCAR has put in a new system for setting the lineup in case qualifying is cancelled.  They are setting the lineup by fastest practice times and owners points.  The top 35 places in owners points will still sit ahead of the remaining 8 spots (the race limit is 43 cars), but the positions will be set by the practice time speeds in Friday’s practice.  That puts Jimmy Johnson on the Pole with A.J. Allmendiner in the front row with Jimmy.  To roundRead More

My View – Martinsville Week 6

I dedicate this article to all you Jr. haters out there in the world.  Today at Martinsville, Dale Earnhardt Jr. proved that he still had some driving left in him.  He took first place near the end of the race away from Kyle Busch.  With four laps to go, Kevin Harvick squeezed past Dale Jr. to take the lead, proving he had a better car in the end.  Jr. fought hard to stay up front all day and his persistence paid off.  Kevin Harvick came racing up out of nowhereRead More

My View – NASCAR Week 5 from the Left Coast

I have to give credit where credit is due and Kyle Busch owned (and I mean Dominated) the race this week at Fontana in California, leading 151 laps.  That is right until the end when Bobby Labonte crashed into the wall and caught fire causing a yellow flag.  The restart left Jimmy Johnson right alongside Kyle Busch and the rest of the field right behind.  If there had not been a yellow, I feel certain that this would have been a boring finish with Kyle staying way out ahead ofRead More

A Three Horse Race For The NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship

Well, race fans, Texas is now in the books, and with Denny Hamlin’s victory, he now takes the points lead with two races to go by a 33 point margin over Jimmie Johnson with Kevin Harvick in third 57 points back. NASCAR, the past few years, has been clamoring for an exciting points battle after Jimmie Johnson’s complete dominance the last four years and this year, it appears they have finally got their wish as three drivers now have a legitimate chance at the championship. Now to run a fewRead More

Cup Crazy… no, not hockey. We’re talking NASCAR!

As a child I destroyed more than one surface growing up (sorry mom and dad). Usually coffee or end tables (flat and smooth, carpet sucked). Always with my match box cars (you know Mom and Dad, its partly YOUR fault… who BOUGHT me the matchbox cars… just sayin’). Anyway… I loved those cars. Driving them around. Pushing them off the table like cars going off a cliff. Making all the obligatory “vroooms” of the engine, “Screeech” of the tires, “Crash” of… well… the crashes. I’d clear a spot on aRead More
