The nominations for the 83rd annual Academy Award Ceremony have been announced and the winners of the “Look at me I have more nominations than you” award goes to The Artist with eleven nominations. Hugo comes in second with ten. Moneyball and Warhorse also did well on the nominations front, as both got six.
There were some huge snubs this year, none bigger than Michael Fassebnder’s horse like phalice not getting nominated for best supporting actor from Shame, or Michael Fassbender himself getting nominated for best Actor. Both were shoe ins before… Tilda Swinton not getting nominated for Have you heard about Kevin was also a major f you to great acting.
Also major snubs were Tin Tin and Drive, which received a Best Score for the former and Sound Editing for the latter, even though they should have been nominated for Best Animated Film for Tin Tin , and Supporting Actor for Drive. Also Bridesmaids not getting a best picture nom was a pretty big snub.
The surprise nominations were also quite huge. The biggest being Gary Oldman for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and Melissa McCarthy for Bridesmaids. Ill go into a some of my predictions and discuss this nominations after the complete list…

So as you can see… The Academy is weird. I predict the Artist will win Best Picture. The best movie of the year never wins best picture, and I feel Moneyball is the best movie, so it will most certainly be The Artist. Leading Actor and actress are too close to call. There are some heavy weight battles going on in those categories. More than Likely Scorsese is going to get another Oscar win for Hugo, Christopher Plummer will win an Oscar for being an awesome old English dude, and I want to say Melissa McCarthy will win best Supporting Actress, but It’s going to be Octavia Spenser.
I can’t believe Puss in Boots was nominated over Tin Tin in Animated feature…. I can’t really make an educated guess because I haven’t seen all of them, but I would hope it’d be Rango. Though it’ll probably be a Cat in Paris.
I’m also sooooo glad that “Man or Muppet” from The Muppets was nominated for best original Song… it was all the movie itself was being realistic about getting nominated for, so I’m glad to see it, and hope to see a live performance of it. It will certainly beat out it’s opponent and grab the Oscar. What are your opinions and predictions? Post below.
