Congratulations to Tony Stewart, who took the checkered flag at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Kobalt Tools 400. He had to hold off Jimmie Johnson in the final laps to win. It was the first win for Tony at Las Vegas and it was his first win with Crew Chief, Steve Addington.
I had predicted that Dale Jr. would win that race; while he didn’t win, he did lead the race for 70 laps. I know he is going to break his loosing streak soon. The Hendricks Motorsports teams are running really well and it is just a matter of time now. Dale Jr. finished in 10th place for his 2nd top ten finish out of three races, including one top 5 finish.
It is still early in the season and people are moving up and down the standings at this point. The current top ten are as follows:
1 +1 Greg Biffle 125
2 +1 Kevin Harvick 115
3 -2 Denny Hamlin 113
4 +1 Dale Earnhardt Jr. 107
5 -1 Matt Kenseth 102
6 +4 Carl Edwards 102
7 +8 Tony Stewart 100
8 -2 Martin Truex Jr.98
9 -1 Joey Logano 98
10 -3 Mark Martin 97
Also of note, Jimmie Johnson is quickly moving up out of the basement, up 14 places this week to 23rd.
Next week, NASCAR moves to Bristol Motor Speedway for short track racing. Bristol is only .533 of a mile long and racing on the short track is always exciting.
