The cast of Star Wars Episode VII has been announced, and it’s exciting.
Seen above is a cast photo from a script read with all the major players. They were kind enough to identify the individual actors, and there are some names I’m excited to read. We don’t know what characters these actors will be portraying, but I can tell you what I know about them.
Adam Driver – Great actor, often rumored to be the villain of the upcoming film. If you’ve been subjected to GIRLS, you’ll know Adam. He’s also had modest roles in LINCOLN, FRANCES HA and a few other films.
Oscar Isaac – You might not know the name, but I’m betting you heard about INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS. He was Llewyn Davis and was nominated for a Golden Globe for the performance.
Andy Serkis – Gollum from the Lord Of The Rings movies, and Caesar from the new Planet Of The Apes series. Chances are good that he’ll be portraying something that involves motion capture.
Max von Sydow – Easily the elder statesman of the cast, he’s a huge talent whose name you might not be familiar with, so you’ll need to go back and watch THE EXORCIST. He’s Father Merrin.
John Boyega – Check out ATTACK THE BLOCK and you’ll understand just how awesome this casting news is.
Domhnall Gleeson – He was great in ABOUT TIME, and although I don’t anticipate him having a huge role, he’s certainly talented.
Daisy Ridley – I honestly don’t know a thing about Daisy, but I’m sure she gave a great audition (or two). I will be checking out what she did in Mr Selfridge and Silent Witness.
Oh, and there are also the stars of the original trilogy. Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels (C3P0), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Kenny Baker (R2D2).
