As we continue our look at the past history of Monday Night Raw, we are only one week away from the historic 900th episode. In the early-mid 90’s WWE brought back the Women’s championship and the division pretty much centered around Alundra Blayze (aka Madusa Micelli). They would bring someone in to feud with Alundra if it was a big feud Alundra would drop the title for a couple of weeks and win it back at the next pay per view. Most of these feuds weren’t very memorable, but there is one opponent that most people remember, the green haired Japanese monster Bull Nakano. In today’s trip down memory lane we look at a match from April 3rd, 1995 when Bull Nakano defends the WWE Women’s title against Alundra Blayze. Bull Nakano defeated Blayze in Novemeber of 1994 in Tokyo to win the belt.

WWE Women’s Championship Match
Alundra Blayze vs. Bull Nakano
Monday Night Raw – April 3, 1995

We start with Bull Nakano in the ring wearing a big white feathery robe, and her green hair spiked up. Blayze gets pyro as she makes her way to the ring. Nakano attacks Blayze as soon as she gets in the ring slamming her face iinto the mat, clotheslining her and swinging her across the ring by her hair. Nakano locks in a leg submission that appears to be a boston crab variation.  Blayze gets to the rope to get a rope break. Nakano does some choking  before hitting a bulldog. Alundra makes a come back slamming Nakano face first into the mat by her hair multiple times. Blayze hits a dropkick from the middle turnbuckle then does it again. Alundra goes for a sunset flip but Nakano sits on her for a two count.

Nakano locks in some weird swinging surfboard type submission. I have to says as much as Nakano creeped me out when I was younger, she had some great submission holds. Nakoano hits a piledriver for 2, then goes to the ropes, but Blayze drop kicks her off the turnbuckles to the outside, and then follows up with an axe handle off the top rope to the outside. Back in the ring Nakano hit a bodyslam and a legdrop from the top rope, but again only gets a 2 count. Both women exchange a series of belly to back suplexes. Nakano tosses Blayze outside then dives through the middle ropes after her, but Blayze moves and Nakono gets nothing but floor. Alundra then follows up with a belly to back on the outside.  Nakano then whips Blayze into the steps then drags her in the ring and hits a slam.  Nakano goes up top for a moonsault, but nobodies home. Blayze hits another belly to back suplex with a bridge to get the 3 count and to win the belt.

Originally Nakano was scheduled to keep the belt and feud with Bertha Faye while Alundra got cosmetic surgery (boob and nose job), but Nakano was found with cocaine in her possession so WWE got the belt off her quick and fired her. Both women would later retire from wrestling and find new very different career paths. Alundra is back performing as Madusa, but now drives monster trucks. Bull Nakano on the other hand is a professional golfer and a member of the LPGA.
