As I got ready for work today, something occurred to me: why do all the male SportsCenter anchors need to wear ties? Mike Greenberg of Mike & Mike In The Morning mentioned he would have to change into a shirt and tie for the afternoon’s SportsCenter, which I found to be odd.
When guys sit around and talk sports, rarely are a shirt and tie involved. Even if it’s after work for a happy hour, ties are at the very least loosened. If you had chaps to your house to watch sports on television, you might think it odd if someone shows up sporting a shirt and tie, so why does SportsCenter feel the need to dress as businessmen?

I would have to say that they are wanting to be a profession here, yeah your buddies coming over to talk sports is different than them being on TV and they have to sell products, via commercials. Heck NBA players have to dress up in a suit and tie, so why not the sportcenter guys also. Now I think it would be great to have a few shows on TV that was more like how it would be at home, just having some BBQ, food and drinks, and talking about different sport topics.
