I might be a little late to the game, but I just discovered The Nostalgia Critic, a guy who puts together fun videos which highlight various topics to be nostalgic, and in the process presents them with a bit of humor.  I don’t foresee any television networks picking it up to make a regular show out of, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy it on the internet.

Thus far there appear to be a couple dozen of these such episodes, and I’ll do my best to ensure that I or someone else from GuysNation.com reviews them.  Although I’ll be presenting my opinions on his lists, I’d suggest watching the episodes fully, as he presents clips and fun comments throughout.  I’d also suggest viewing his website, the URL for which is shown throughout each episode.

This first episode features the top 11 hottest animated women.  Why 11?  Watch the video, he explains it.  (My review to follow the video)

Be warned, adult language is used… though not in a terribly lewd way.

11 – Rinka from Captain Planet
This one is a bit of a stretch and is easily the first one I would remove to make room for someone else.  There are probably scenes that make her a more interesting character to which our younger selves might’ve been attracted, but I don’t remember any of those scenes… and I saw probably almost all of the episodes of Captain Planet

10 –The Baroness from G.I. Joe
As most of you likely agree, this is a huge mistake in not putting her closer to the top spot on this list.  She was a bad, bad girl, and yet almost any kid who had even started going through puberty AT ALL would’ve likely been a fan.  One huge question I also have to ask:  Where’s Scarlett?  How about Cover Girl… or even Lady Jay?  Spoiler alert:  None of them are on the list.

9 – Sailor Moon
I never watched the Girl Power style anime, but I’m sure she was tough and the boys of that age might’ve found her cute.  I will say that this is perhaps the funniest part of the entire count-down video.

8 – Harley Quinn from Batman: The Animated Series
Another huge injustice.  Harley Quinn should be much closer to the #1 spot than this.  She’s a great character and I, personally, know of quite a few guys who still find her hot to this very day.  I also have to ask, what about Catwoman, Bat Girl, or Poison Ivy?  None of them made the list.

7 – Hello Nurse from Animaniacs
Good selection, as the Nurse from Animaniacs was created with the sole purpose of being eye candy (albeit for the Warner brothers characters – the species of which I’m still not sure of).  She shouldn’t have been higher on the list than anyone from G.I. Joe nor Batman: The Animated Series, but she did provide the fodder for quite a few great moments from that show.

6 – Cheetara from Thundercats
I loved the line in the video where the N.C. said Cheetarah would be the product if Angelina Jolie & Chester Cheetah (the Cheetos mascot) ever procreated.  Great addition to this list.

5 – Daphne from Scooby Doo
Yes, she deserves to be on the list, but no, she shouldn’t be this high.  She’s certainly a near-iconic character, but she’s no better than Betty Rubble, Jane Jetson or Judy Jetson… all of whom missed the list.

4 – April O’Neil on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
I was just as big of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan as anyone, and sure, I thought April was a pretty cool character, but the N.C. must have been a superfan for TMNT to have the yellow-jumpsuit-clad reporter this high.  A hottie she was not.  At times she was a damsel in distress, but she didn’t even have the Lois Lane factor where she’d seem to have a cute mysteriousness / mischievousness to her.

3 – Rogue from X-Men
Now this is a choice I can give my full support to.  Rogue was not only bad ass, but the artists drew her kindly.  For the “stronger than any man” and “steal all your life’s energy with a touch” factors, I’d have to drop her down the list, but she’d still probably be a Top 5 because she’d hands-down be the best female tag team partner in a fight.

2 – Ariel (Little Mermaid) & Jasmine (Aladdin)
While I think it’s somewhat creepy to look at Disney films this way, I will say that the guy makes some funny-yet-valid points.  I’d definitely take both of these ladies and drop them further down the list, though I’m sure some of my friends would disagree.  I wouldn’t blame them for having crushes on either of the characters (and I’m fairly certain that one of my friends was a big fan of Ariel), but that’s just not me.  Maybe it’s an age thing.  Also, I think it’s maybe a little creepy that N.C. mentioned that he left Belle (Beauty and the Beast) out of the rankings because her outfits show no navel.  I’m just going to pretend like he was joking about that… which he probably was, but for creepiness sake, I won’t consider the possibility that he was serious.

Because the first ten filled up an entire YouTube video slot, the Nostalgia Critic moved on to a second video, found below.

1 – Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

I don’t think it’s any surprise that the animated character whose sole purpose was to be seductive to her cross-over live-action male counterparts would take top billing in this list.  It’s a great character which features great voice-over work from Kathleen Turner, and at no point while watching that movie did I blame the guys for wanting to play Patty Cake with her, though I always kept in mind that she was just a cartoon and I never closed my eyes and imagined her being in the same room and then touched my hands together…  Sorry, I think the Nostalgia Critic’s creepiness is contagious.

In addition to the previously aforementioned ladies from G.I. Joe who should’ve been on the list, what about Teela from He-Man, or even She-Ra?  She wasn’t “hot” by any standards, but how about Penny from Inspector Gadget?  I’d say she’s an animated version of Chloe from Smallville, and the reason that Allison Mack has so many fans isn’t only because she’s cute – her handiness with technology certainly helps out.  And how about either of the princesses from Legend of Zelda or Super Mario Brothers?  They had fairly good representation in a couple of great cartoons, but they didn’t make the list either.  I think he did something of an injustice by not including video games, because I have to think that Cammy and/or Chun-Li would’ve made it onto the list.

If you have any animated ladies who you thought should have been represented, we’d love to hear about it.
