When I first saw the preview for The Last Airbender, I was hooked. It looked like an awesome fantasy movie with plenty of kung fu action and great cinematography.
Then when I found out it was written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, I did a double take.
Seriously? The same guy who did Signs, Unbreakable and Sixth Sense?
Awesome. This almost assuredly means there’s going to be a pretty decent script to go along with it, and although it might have a crazy ending, it should be worth the ride.
Also, I had no idea that this was a television show before it got developed into a live-action movie. Once I see the movie, I’ll track down a DVD or two of the first season of the show and give it a shot.
Seems to weird to me to see a kid being the kung fu master like Bruce Lee. I don’t know that I’ll like it but I’ll see it when it comes to video unless there’s nothing else in the theater when I go. I’ll probably see it on the big screen to be honest because nothing else right now is hot that I can think of without doing some little researching.
The last couple by M.Night were a little weird so I’m not surprised he went mainstream. He needs to remind people that he’s great at what he does, and then he’ll get “credits” to make more of his other films.
