Plenty of lists exist of the top matches in WrestleMania history, but we’ve got a list of great matches which don’t get enough respect.

In no particular order, here are the most under-rated WrestleMania matches:

Randy Orton vs CM Punk (WrestleMania 27)

This one gets lost in the shuffle of other lauded matches like The Undertaker vs HHH, Edge’s final WrestleMania match and even the Cena vs Miz World Title match (that some people consider a fiasco).

Edge vs Mick Foley – Hardcore Match (WrestleMania 22)

I’m not surprised most people only talk about Shawn Michaels vs Vince McMahon, John Cena vs HHH for the WWE Championship, or even Rey Mysterio winning the Heavyweight Championship.  Foley got his WrestleMania moment in a big way, even if the only mention it ever gets is when they’re showing clips and the flaming table spot flashes by.

Mickie James vs Trish Stratus – Women’s Championship (WrestleMania 22)

It’s not just the way a match transpires that makes it great, but the build-up to it adds significantly. That’s exactly what makes this match all the more exciting.

Christian vs Chris Jericho (WrestleMania XX)

One of my personal favorite feuds leading into a WrestleMania match, and there wasn’t even a championship on the line. Trish Stratus was involved as the straw that mixed the drink, and the ending was something that I didn’t see coming.

Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit (WrestleMania X-7)

TLC, Austin vs Rock, Undertaker vs HHH and Shane O’Mac vs Vince. This card was stacked, and now that Chris Benoit was essentially redacted from WWE history, it will likely go down as one of the more under-appreciated matches in the history of wrestling’s biggest event.

Randy Savage vs Crush – Falls Count Anywhere (WrestleMania X)

Macho Man had a way of making his feuds more intense than they would seem on paper.  This match went all over the arena and had one of the more original endings I’ve seen.

Doink The Clown vs Crush (WrestleMania IX)

Given the names involved, I’m expecting people to scoff at this one, but in terms of originality, this match did two things that I’ve never seen before, and I’ve never seen since.

Bret Hart vs Roddy Piper – Intercontinental Championship (WrestleMania VIII)

This match featured some of the best storytelling I’ve seen inside of a match in all my time watching sports entertainment.

Brain Busters (Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard) vs Rick Martel & Tito Santana (WrestleMania V)

Two members of the Four Horsemen in a tag match at WrestleMania that was given just shy of 10 minutes of match time? Definitely worth noting.

Mr Perfect vs The Blue Blazer {Owen Hart} (WrestleMania V)

Two of the best wrestlers of our generation meeting up when they’re in their athletic prime? Yes please.
