I’m not a huge basketball fan, but tonight I found myself glued to the television.

I filled out my bracket and had Kansas State advancing at least to the Final Four, so I had some interest in their Sweet 16 game tonight against Xavier.  I wasn’t expecting the classic game they delivered.

Admittedly I didn’t turn on the game until late in the second half, but when I did, it looked like Kansas State was going to take care of business.  As the clock wound down, Xavier tied it up, sending it to overtime.

In the first overtime, it looked like Kansas State was too much for Xavier, but as it looked to be out of reach, Xavier hit a hugely clutch 3 point shot to tie it up again.  Kansas State moved the ball down the court and got off a final shot, but it wouldn’t fall.

SECOND OVERTIME.

Xavier actually got out to a lead in the second overtime, which had me worrying about my bracket (and a friend of mine who is a legit fan of Kansas State), but K-State managed to tie it up.  With the game still tied, Kansas State hit a HUGE three pointer to put them up three.  A couple possessions later after a field goal and a couple free throws, Kansas State was STILL up by three and Xavier just barely missed a three point attempt.  A foul by Xavier sent Kansas State to the line, extending the lead to 4.  The second free throw took it to 5, with Xavier having no time-outs remaining.  Xavier gets a big 3 point attempt, but it hits the front of the rim and bounces away.  Last second three-point attempt also clangs off in a miss, and Kansas State advances to the Elite 8 to play 5 seed Butler.

I don’t know how you could go about getting footage of this game, but I’d highly recommend checking it out – even though you already know the outcome.

This isn’t the best review in the world, but I’m so amazed by how great this game was that I wanted to post something to congratulate all the players involved on a great contest, as well as to let everyone know that if it’s possible for them to watch how the game transpired, they wouldn’t regret it.  I’ll do my best to get my friend – the Kansas State fan – to give his review.
