Lady Lestat is a Vampire Rockstar, Go-Go Dancer, DJ, pirate, model, nerd, wolf killer, villain etc. She was given the nick name in high school because she and her friends were reading the books and they all thought of her when reading Lestat. So it just stuck. I was able to get her to come out of her coffin long enough to do a quick interview with me.
Jack Nickelz: So what got you started on your Cosplay adventure?
Lady Lestat: I’ve always loved dressing up. Halloween is a big deal in my household. So dressing up for a comic con was easy.
Jack Nickelz: What was your first Convention in Cosplay like?
Lady Lestat: My 1st convention in Cosplay was at Phoenix Comic Con in 2008? I went dressed up as a female Joker and had a blast. I’ve been going ever since and gone dressed up every year.
Jack Nickelz: What have been some of your fav. Cosplays to do?
Lady Lestat: My all time favorite Cosplay to do is Lady Death. I get all painted up and get to be at the official Lady Death booth at cons. My other favorite would be my Lady Joker. I like to cause some chaos.
Jack Nickelz: Do you have a Cosplay that you are becoming known for?
Lady Lestat: That would be Lady Death. I made it on the cover of a Comic Book.
Jack Nickelz: How do you pick out which Cosplay to do?
Lady Lestat: I pick characters I know and love. I also love to pick male characters and gender bend them into ladies.
Jack Nickelz: Now did your crafty come before or as a result of your Cosplaying?
Lady Lestat: Before and I have my family who helps out a lot. My mom helps sew and piece together the costume and my dad makes props, head pieces, and armor.
Jack Nickelz: What have been some of your hardest pieces to work on?
Lady Lestat: Lady Loki is one that I’m still tweaking and making perfect. The head piece my dad made is beautiful just needs to be fixed so it doesn’t hurt my head.
Jack Nickelz: How long does it normally take you to do a piece?
Lady Lestat: Depends on the character. And I only do about 2 or 3 Cons a year. So I have lots of time to work on my costumes.
Jack Nickelz: How you ever had to adjust a piece because it was a bit too reveling?
Lady Lestat: For Lady Death I wear a long cape to cover my backside so I’m not just walking around in underwear all day lol and I wear pasties under my bra just in case a wardrobe malfunction happens.
Jack Nickelz: How cool was it to meet Anne Rice?
Lady Lestat: That was a dream come true. I went to a book signing to meet her and I was shaking the whole time. I had her sign my Lestat book to my nick name Lady Lestat and she told me I fit the part. I almost passed out lol. She put the video up on her YouTube.
Jack Nickelz: Did you start modeling before or after you started Cosplaying?
Lady Lestat: A little before and more so after. I mostly just do it for fun and my friends.
Jack Nickelz: What are some of your fav. styles to shoot?
Lady Lestat: Any really. I love getting all dolled up and doing something pretty and pin up all the way to getting bloody and scary.
Jack Nickelz: Now it also says that you DJ, what are some of your fav. songs to spin?
Lady Lestat: I mix it up when I DJ I play mostly industrial, Goth, metal, some pop, and anything you can dance to. My fav bands to play are Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, Alter Der Ruin, Aesthetic Perfection, and IAMX.
Jack Nickelz: What future Cosplays can we expect to see from you?
Lady Lestat: I am updating my Lady Loki and making it more glamorous, maybe Suzi X from Rob Zombies El Superbeasto, and some Disney Villains.
