It’s that time of year again when NCAA Basketball picks its top 65 teams (albeit with some quality teams omitted), and I’d guess that over 75% of males between the ages of 18-48 are filling out a NCAA tournament bracket this week. What fun is it to pick winners if you can’t compare how you did against other people?

GuysNation has set up a group on Yahoo which lets you fill out your bracket electronically and have your results compared against not only the other readers of GuysNation, but you also get qualified to win $1,000,000 for a perfect bracket (unless Yahoo changes their mind) or $10,000 if you have the best bracket on Yahoo.

It’s easy to join our group and make picks. It can be accessed here.

As we’re a new website, we can’t offer money to the person who makes the best predictions, but hopefully next year that would be a reality, and at that time I’ll probably give bonus cash next year to the highest 2011 picks from the list of people who also participated in 2010.

Scoring

Everyone will be able to fill out two brackets.  The scoring varies by round as follows:

First Round

  • 1 point for each correct pick
  • For picking an upset, you also get the difference in seed multiplied by 2
    (if you pick a 14 seed to beat a 3, you get 22 points + 1 for a correct pick = 23)

Second Round

  • 2 points for each correct pick
  • For picking an upset, you get the difference in seed multiplied by 2
    (if you pick a 9 seed to beat a 1, you get 16 points + 2 for a correct pick = 18)

Third Round – Sweet 16

  • 4 points for each correct pick
  • For picking an upset, you get the difference in seed multiplied by 1
    (if you pick a 9 seed to beat a 1, you get 8 points + 4 for a correct pick = 12)

Fourth Round – Elite 8

  • 8 points for each correct pick
  • For picking an upset, you get the difference in seed multiplied by 1
    (if you pick a 9 seed to beat a 1, you get 8 points + 8 for a correct pick = 16)

Fifth Round – Final Four

  • 16 points for each correct pick
  • For picking an upset, you get the difference in seed multiplied by 1
    (if you pick a 9 seed to beat a 1, you get 8 points + 16 for a correct pick = 24)

Tournament Finals

  • 32 points for a correct pick
  • For picking an upset, you get the difference in seed multiplied by 1
    (if you pick a 4 seed to beat a 1, you get 3 points + 32 for a correct pick = 35)

The games start later this week, so jump on in soon!
