With all the stuff surrounding one of the world’s most recognizable individuals, it brought to mind a question of whether or not I’d trade places with Tiger Woods if given the option.
Perfect situation for a Guypothetical.
Which situation would you rather be in:
You could be one of the top two or three most recognizable people on the planet, extremely gifted at your highly-visible occupation (which you love). You’re traveling most of the year, your family unable to be with you. Often you’re away from home for weeks at a time, going from one city to the next, sometimes stamping your passport to go compete Internationally. The ladies everywhere find you HOT. In every city you visit, there are tons of women looking to spend the night with you – quite a few of them hot enough to be a Victoria’s Secret model. The allure is overwhelming, and although you’re able to reject most of them, you’re not able to reject ALL of them because some of them are just too hot to deny. Because you’re famous, the press finds out about your infidelity to your wife, who will never trust you fully again, even if she does decide to stay with you. Your children will grow up and know that you weren’t faithful to their mother. Whether divorce occurs and brings with it the need to write a monthly alimony check, this infidelity is going to cost you. Sponsorships won’t be as plentiful as they were in your very early 20′s, and if you do stay married, you have to spend lots of money on your wife to try to show your affection. You still make more money in a year than 99.5% of the rest of the people in the world.
Another option would be to have a decent amount of fame. People know your name, although because you’re not on camera too often, most couldn’t pick you out of a line-up. The money is really good, you’re doing something you enjoy, and along the way you found a spouse who is significantly more attractive than you are. The schedule for your job takes you to various cities both foreign and domestic, causing you to travel for months at a time. Your family has their own life at home (which was moved to the city which is a hub for your particular industry – Hollywood for the movie industry, for example), and they’re not completely happy because they grew up in a different part of the country, but they live there because that means they get to spend more time with you. When you finish with a project, you get to return home for months at a time until another project comes up. When you’re on travel, there are some women who try to start affairs with you, but they’re certainly not the Victoria’s Secret model caliber hottie that the athletes have fawning all over them. They’re still more attractive than you ever thought you’d have in your life, so it puts the temptation there. You know that your spouse wouldn’t find out about it if you did cheat, but you’d have to live with the guilt.
You could be the husband of a Victoria’s Secret model. You met her before she was famous, and you are fairly certain that she likes you for “you”. She travels A LOT. She’s barely ever home for more than a week, and it’s not uncommon for her to be gone for two weeks at a time. Because she makes a lot of money, you don’t have to work, but you have a low paying job doing what you love. It’s undeniable to you that over 90% of the straight guys of America want her. You don’t know whether she’s faithful or not. TV shows, radio hosts, blogs all think she should get rid of you and find someone else. She has several straight guy friends who she’s met through being a model – some of whom are photographers who see her naked during photoshoots several times a year.
