Hit level 60 and wondering what’s left for you to do in Diablo III?  Blizzard understands and is working hard to fix up the end game which as of right now, is sorely lacking.

The main draw of this system is to help those of you at level 60 and have magic find problems.  Blizzard realized that at level 60, you could spend an hour in game looking for decent loot and wind up with nothing but huge gold costs in repairs.  There could be times where no progress is made and you feel like you wasted an hour of your time.  This is where the Paragon System kicks in.

At 60, you’ll begin to gain experience again with it now going towards 100 Paragon levels. Each level you gain increases your core stats (Vitality, Strength, Dexterity, etc) as you would see for a normal level gain but you also gain a 3% gold and magic find increase.  In addition, the Nephalem Valor bonus will also be giving players a 15% experience bonus per stack to help you gain those Paragon levels.  Ultimately, game director, Jay Wilson, went on to say that the first Paragon level should take about the same amount of time it took you to go from 59 to 60 but the experience requirement will steadily go up the further you go.

This is a bit of good news as I really have no desire to go back to Diablo III.  I’m at a state where I beta the game and feel content with that.  This is a stark contrast to Diablo II as the game grabbed me hook, line, and sinker.  I was creating alt characters while playing with my main character at the same time pretty much.  You know, there’s probably a Xzibit meme waiting somewhere in that last sentence.

Diablo III right now is missing that addictive component that Diablo II used to capture gamers.  I can’t quite put my finger on what the magic thing is but I’ve got a little bit of hope with this news.  There’s currently no timetable for when this feature will be added but hopefully this is the start of progress.
