With all the talk and coverage that college football is getting lately, the sports fan might not realize that the start of the college basketball season us almost here. As such, it’s time for my preview series to cover the basketball conferences of college. This will be similar in nature to my college football previews, but I’ll only be covering major conferences and won’t be going into so much depth. Anyways, first up is the ACC.
1 ) North Carolina
Harrison Barnes is just the beginning of a loaded Tar Heels squad that has huge hype surrounding it.
2 ) Duke
Seth Curry and Austin Rivers make up yet another talented team that Coach K will take deep into the tournament.
3 ) Florida State
‘Noles play tough defense, but finding consistent offense is the big question
4 ) Virginia
Mike Scott returns for another year and will lead a Cavaliers program on the rise.
5 ) Miami
A talented backcourt duo will be the key to success for new coach Jim Larranaga.
6 ) Virginia Tech
Hokies lose star Malcolm Delaney and others, but will remain competitive.
7 ) Clemson
Tigers lose several starters as well, but will not lose as much ground as people think.
8 ) North Carolina State
New coach Mark Gottfried has players to work with and could have the Wolfpack surprising everyone, but could also get lose in the shuffle.
9 ) Maryland
The loss of Pe’Shon Howard for a few months hurt the Terps chances and coach Mark Turgeon has hus work cut out for him.
10 ) Georgia Tech
The exit of Paul Hewitt as coach leaves alot of unanswered questions as to how a new regime will handle things.
11 ) Wake Forest
Four starters return for a young team that has no real palce to go but up.
12 ) Boston College
With no returning starters and prospective ones with little experience it will be a long season for the Eagles.
