Let’s face it, the killer alien from the movie Predator was a bad-ass. Not only could he destroy some shit, but he looked cool as hell, too. That is, until he opens his mouth, and then he just looks like a nasty killer.

So why not ride around town on your motorcycle with a helmet designed to look like Predator?

Exactly.

For a base price of $780, you can sport a product which they claim isn’t DOT / street legal… but with all the people I’ve seen riding around without a helmet, I’m not sure whether that matters or not.

Added features?

Those three super-bright red LED’s you see in the pic? For $119 they’ll add something on there so they act like lasers you can aim with.

Smoked face shield, so you can see them but they can’t see you. $59

Top level airbrushing. $399 – they say that they’ll contact you, but you might want to take a look at this first:

So who wants one? You can get them here.

DC Comics and KIA teamed up to create five Justice League-inspired cars. The series includes an Aquaman 5-door RIO, Cyborg 5-door FORTE, a FORTE Koup for The Flash, Green Lantern SOUL and a Batman-inspired OPTIMA. Legendary comics artist Jim Lee served as a designer on the project, which seeks to raise awareness for We Can Be Heroes.

Aquaman

It would’ve been awesome if the Aquaman-themed Justice League Kia car could go under water, but the attention to detail they put into it is incredible. From the paint job, to the running-board fins and the logo in front of the doors, they went all crazy on this.

The Flash

Cyborg

What Cyborg-inspired car would be complete without a tablet in the between-seat console? Exactly.

Green Lantern

Batman

Just in case you need a bit of weaponry?

One of the coolest scenes in the original Star Wars Trilogy involves a chase on speeder bikes, with Luke & Leia trying to battle Imperial Scout troopers.

In the near future, those hovering speeder bikes may very well be a reality.

Although the look is slightly different, a company in California has progressed further in this endeavor than most of the cool gadgets seen in Back To The Future.

Aerofex has created a working version of the tandem-duct aerial vehicle which they state has demonstrated “exceptional stability and control”.

As their website lists the future goals of the project as developing a “gust alleviation system, fail-safe capabilities, and techniques to reduce momentum drag in forward flight” and indicates the purpose of those developments as having uses in “manned craft, as well as UAVs”, it would appear that Aerofex is very serious about this Research & Development effort.

<meta itemprop="description" content="On this last flight of the test-bed before rework, the favorable downwash of ducted fans is clearly visible. Dust and debris are pushed away from the pilot, even while flying close to the ground. The ducts prevent tip vortices from forming and isolate the fans from the external flow field. The latter quality permits unperturbed flight around obstacles and when transitioning indoors. In contrast, the recirculating flow of open rotors has earned it a name, and the bane of pilots: "helicopter brownout" in the desert and "helicopter whiteout" in snow.">

As if the Porsche 911 needed yet another reason to make guys want one, it now comes with a feature to make it even more manly.

It’s likely that if you get close to a Porsche 911 outside the show-room, you’re likely to be seeing its tail lights. If you get close enough, you’ll notice its dual exhaust on both sides. The regularly mild-sounded sports car gets throaty with those four exhaust pipes at the push of a button.

That’s right, if you want to not only make other guys drool but also intimidate them, Porsche has a button for that.

It’s still not as throaty as a Harley Davidson, but it’s definitely a feature some guys are likely to opt to add… even at a price of around $3,000. When you’re paying around $95,000 for the car, that sort of extra probably isn’t going to affect much.

Some guys love their car. Others love driving. But to put nearly 3 million miles on a single car takes some serious devotion.

Sporting a vanity license plate reading “MILNMILER”, the 1966 Volvo P1800S owned by Irv Gordon has reportedly surpassed 2 million miles and is now less than a year’s driving away from hitting the 3 million mile mark.

Skeptical? Most odometers don’t include a position for over 999,999 miles. Some turn back to all zeroes instead of registering 100k. According to Gordon, he has the service records to prove his car’s mileage, and his documentation has proven good enough for Guinness World Records for the past 10 years – he became the holder of the High Mileage Vehicle spot in 2002.

Gordon says he averages 100,000 miles a year, and having reached his second million in roughly 36 years and approaching his third this year, that’s about accurate.

Consider that: at 25 miles per gallon, that’s 4,000 gallons of gas per year, and at roughly $3.50, that’s $14,000 the former teacher spends on gas per year. One might assume that Volvo might be sponsoring a fair amount of that price, considering the good press they’re getting, but that’s still a ton of money.

Of course, if you’re driving a 8 mpg super SUV, the same gas bill only gets you 32,000 miles per year. At that rate, a million miles would take over 30 years.

If you have even the slightest interest in cars, you owe it to yourself to check out DREAM MACHINES on the SyFy network.

Admittedly the only episode I’ve seen is this week’s episode with John Cena, but I’ve seen more than enough to know that this is the type of show that guys will enjoy.

The Parker Brothers run a concept vehicles shop, but the car John Cena wants is something that he fully intends to take out onto the road… but he certainly wants it to be a car of the future.

The way the episode unfolds might surprise you in a fun way. When John Cena contacts Parker Brothers Concepts, he notifies them that he has sent them a Corvette which he wants them to use as the core of the vehicle around which they’re going to build the futuristic body.

And he wants them to destroy the ‘Vette.

The Not-So-Rough Concept

After they strip down the car to the nuts and bolts, Cena shows up and they discuss the conceptual sketches, they start figuring out the details Cena would like to see included which eventually take this vehicle far beyond anything I’ve seen in concept cars from major car manufacturers… but not before they take the car’s body out for a spin – which puts on display some great driving skills from the guys who build these cars.

The show is well produced, and just like some of the better automobile fabrication shows on television, it’s not just a show for car geeks. They have some heated disagreements, there’s some humor strewn about, and you really get a sense of what the people are like.

And in the end, the car is awesome.

The work they did for John Cena was great, as I knew it would be even prior to watching the episode. My main question was whether I’d be interested in future episodes which didn’t feature someone I was interested in seeing outside their natural element like John Cena. Judging from the clips I’ve seen for future episodes where they build vehicles for Auto Trader and a project in Hollywood for Peter Berg?

I’m definitely watching.

Every year the automakers who sell cars in the United States pull a fast one over on the public. They bring their products, which THEY are trying to sell to US, to a convention hall and WE pay money just to SEE them. Does that make sense? Not really, but the opportunity to see some of the sweetest rides around is enough for some people, especially auto aficionados, to throw logic right out the window.

Super Bowl Sunday didn’t just play host to the biggest football game of the year, it also concluded the Washington, D.C. Auto Show. Available to the public for 10 days from January 27th to February 5th, the auto show welcomed just about every major automaker into the nation’s capital as well as some special guests including various members of the Washington Redskins, WWE Superstar Randy Orton, and even the Commander-in-Chief himself, President Obama.

But with the 2012 Chicago Auto Show beginning THIS Friday (or as early as tomorrow for members of the media), it’s time to look ahead at what the rest of the nation is likely to see at their local convention center. But since it can’t be guaranteed that everyone of these awesome pieces of machinery will make it to your neck of the woods (including one that was NOT in the D.C. Auto Show), here are the 10 coolest car’s you will PROBABLY see at an auto show near you plus one “honorable mention”:

Honorable Mention : Chevrolet ‘Bumblebee’ Camaro - There was no room for this car inside the top ten, but it was worth mentioning nonetheless. No, this car cannot ACTUALLY transform nor does it come with Megan Fox. But this yellow and black Camaro is an exact replica of the one used to play Bumblebee in the Transformer movies and comes complete with the famous Autobot decal right below the Camaro’s nameplate.

10 : Blake Griffin/West Coast Customs Kia Optima - Yes, this is a shameless ploy by KIA to try and make their rides appear more “sportier” and less “economical”. But you know what? It totally worked. With amazing bodywork that is designed to resemble the texture of a basketball, this glistening “tricked out” version of the Kia Optima customized by West Coast Customs is way cooler than that one Griffin dunked over in the All-Star Weekend Slam Dunk Contest last year.

9 : Mercedes SLS - You may or may not have seen this Mercedes coupe before. Either way, though, you’ll probably have the opportunity to see it in person at some point this year. With a body that fits right in with other high-end import coupes and a set of doors that appeal to German automotive lovers and Dellorean fanboys alike, the SLS is one sexy ride IF you can afford its $190,000 price tag. Even if you can’t, though, if you’re local auto show is running the same promotion that was in D.C., you’ll have an opportunity to get a photo of you behind the wheel of this Mercedes for FREE.

8 : Chevrolet Tru 140S Concept - One of the greatest things about auto shows is concept cars, and this wave-of-the-future build from Chevrolet does not disappoint. With an aggressive, 2-door body that looks more indicative of an Audi or an Acura, this Chevrolet sub-compact will undoubtedly take on a totally different look before it hits the streets (if it even does). As it is, however, the Tru 140S makes for some great eye candy right now.

7 : Audi R8 Spyder - Little can be said about the R8 that hasn’t been said already. It’s fast, it’s powerful, and it’s outside just about everyone’s budget with the exception of Tony Stark. Still, you can see it in person merely for the price of admission. And the Spyder convertible version of the R8 comes complete with infinite headroom, so Kareem Abdul-Jabar at least has that going for him.

6 : Lexus LF-LC Hybrid Sport Coupe Concept - The second concept car on the list is a far deviation from your daddy’s Lexus. Pulling inspiration from the automaker’s more performance enhanced models, the satiny luxury coupe looks like it could flat-out smoke it’s counterparts on the street. Add in the fact that it’s a hybrid vehicle and you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your ecological footprint is no bigger than the tread marks you leave behind at the stop sign.

5 : Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Edition - Calling all gamers, your car is out front! This decked-out version of the Wrangler comes complete with so many gadgets you’ll feel like you’re fighting it out against the Spetsnaz right on the streets of suburbia you call home. But for those who want people to KNOW they have this MW3 version of the Wrangler, the model comes complete with MW3 floor mats, bucket seats, rear tire cover, and, of course, metal placard just in front of each front door on the body.

4 : NEW Audi S7 - Taking a right turn on “topical”, one of the cars likely to be at an auto show near you is the Audi S7 that was featured on Audi’s hilarious vampire-zapping commercial during the big game. Becoming available at dealerships soon, the S7 features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that it borrowed from its sister, the S6. And with just about 420 horses underneath the hood, you’ll be out frying vampires faster than you can say “Twilight sucks”.

3 : Chevrolet ‘American Pride’ Camaro - Simply put, you will not see anything more beautiful than this custom Camaro at your local auto show. Using its entire body as a timeline-like mural of American war history, this Chevy muscle car starts with Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln in one quarter panel and swings all the way around to modern day military bomb techs on the other. Attention, Michaelangelo, the bar has just been raised.

2 : Ford Evos Concept - If anyone tries to tell you that the American automakers are still dead in the water, please kindly show them a photo of the Ford Evos concept car. A super-sweet hypothetical design from one of the nation’s largest and most affordable automakers, the Evos will likely be a point of inspiration when it comes to designing Ford’s future sedans. In the meantime, though, it’s crazy opening doors will entertain the easily distracted person in us all.

1 : Acura NSX Concept - This car was NOT at the D.C. Auto Show, but it’s worth every ounce of hype that it is currently getting. Not yet in production in the U.S., the NSX will be coming stateside soon enough. It was also the focal point of Acura’s Super Bowl spot featuring Jerry Seinfeld, the “Soup Nazi”, and Jay Leno. And considering that search results for the sports car were up 1,800% after the Super Bowl according to AutoTrader.com, you could find yourself in just as brutal of a bidding war as Seinfeld and Leno were IF you can even afford its hefty price.
